In order to provide our customers with the best experience playing Torchlight in the future, we are urging that all our users migrate away from our in-house downloadable Torchlight installer package (a.k.a., the “Runic Installer”). This is important so that you will receive the benefit of a game package unencumbered by middleware systems which require perpetual maintenance.
What does this mean?
As of October 11, 2017, Runic Games will no longer provide updates or technical support for the Torchlight “Runic Installer.” Moving forward, we will be referring our customers to partner sites in order to make their purchase of the game. Additionally, we will be suggesting migration as a default troubleshooting step for those who experience issues with their installation.
Previously purchased Torchlight keys may be redeemed from our partners in the following ways:
- Steam: Torchlight keys of the format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX purchased from Runic Games or Perfect World prior to May 19, 2010 may still be directly redeemed through the Steam client. (See: How do I add Torchlight to Steam?)
- GOG: Any customers who purchased Torchlight before October 11, 2017 may redeem a fresh copy of the game using an original Runic Installer key (matching: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) from GOG.
Can I still download the old version?
Yes, but it's an unsupported release and will not run on Windows 10 or newer.
- Torchlight "Runic Installer" Download (Runs on Windows XP SP3, Vista, 7, 8)
This is a complete download which does not require additional patching after installation.
Note: If you originally purchased the Steam version, your copy is not eligible for this crossgrade offer. This KB only applies to downloadable copies of the Torchlight: Physical retail copies are still fully supported.
