What is Arc Defender?
Arc Defender is our newest system that will help make securing your account even easier! It is a security module that will help protect your account from phishing and hacking attempts. It works by emailing you a personal identification number (PIN) that you use to verify ownership of the account if the system detects that you are logging in from an unknown location.
How does the PIN work?
A single PIN is automatically generated any time you log in from an unknown computer and it will be sent to the email address associated with the account you're logging in with. When you get the PIN you will need to enter it into the appropriate field to complete your account login. You have five (5) attempts to successfully input the PIN. After the fifth unsuccessful attempt, the PC being used will be prevented from logging into the account for 24 hours. Additionally, an email will be sent to the account holder informing him/her of the failed attempts.
I tried entering my PIN but it was expired. What do I do now?
Once generated, a PIN is only valid for one (1) hour. You can request a new one by clicking the "Where is my PIN?" button in the Arc Defender window. Alternatively, if you have closed the Arc Defender window, you can request a new PIN by attempting to log into the account again.
I requested an Arc Defender PIN, but I don't see an e-mail. What can I do?
If you have not received the e-mail with your Arc Defender PIN, please double check your e-mail account's spam or junk mail folder, as your provider may have routed the mailing there. You may also wish to add email@arcgames.com to your safe senders list to ensure that you are receiving messages from us in the future.
I've requested several new PINs and now I'm locked out, please help!
To help maintain account security you can only request five additional PINs. When the sixth request is made the computer you are using will be prevented from logging into the account for 24 hours.
What should I do if I don't want to enter a PIN every time I log in?
In the Arc Defender window, make sure the box next to "Save this PC and allow future access without a PIN" is checked when entering the PIN. Additionally, you can assign a name to the computer (up to 15 characters) to easily identify it later.
How do I disable Arc Defender or remove saved computers?
Arc Defender is designed to provide additional security for your account so we strongly recommend against disabling it, however, if you wish to do so, please follow these steps:
- Open Arc and log in to your account
- Select the gear icon towards the top right corner of the client.
- Select "General" to open the settings page.
- Click the "Disable Defender" button.
- When prompted, re-enter your account credentials
- Click "Continue" and Arc Defender will be disabled.
To remove any saved computers please follow these steps:
- Open Arc and log in to your account
- Click your account name on the left of the client
- Select "My Account"
- Click Security on the left side of the window
- Click "Delete" to remove the saved computer that you do not recognize
I received an email that there was a suspicious login attempt, how can I secure my account?
First and foremost we suggest that you reset the password on your account to something strong and unique. After doing so you can remove any unauthorized computer by following the steps above.
