How to reinstall Torchlight

Please read the steps below in order to reinstall Torchlight.

Purchased Torchlight for Windows from Runic Games via torchlightgame.com

Backup your game saves

Try the following:

1. From Start -> Search programs and files (or Start -> Run... for Windows XP users), type %appdata%\runic games\torchlight and press Enter.
2. Make a backup copy of your save folder.

Uninstall Torchlight, remove game saves, mods, and modding tools

1. From the Torchlight Start Menu group, run Uninstall Torchlight. This will require administrator permissions.
2. Remove the runic games folder in your %appdata% directory.
3. Uninstall mod managers, such as Hotspot or Torchleech.

Download the latest version of Torchlight

You can get the latest build from here.

Reinstall Torchlight

Run the installer and enter your key to activate, if prompted.

Purchased Torchlight for Windows from Perfect World via perfectworld.com

Use the same procedure as the Runic Games distribution (shown above). However, download the Perfect World distribution from here.

Purchased Torchlight for Windows or Mac through Steam

To reinstall:

1. From the Steam client application menu, choose Games -> View Games Library.
2. Locate Torchlight in your list of games and right-click it.
3. Choose Delete Local Content... and follow any prompts.
4. Once Torchlight has been uninstalled, right-click it.
5. Choose Install Game... and follow any prompts.

Purchased the Encore-published retail disc for Windows

Backup your game saves

Try the following:

1. From Start -> Search programs and files (or Start -> Run... for Windows XP users), type %appdata%\runic games\torchlight and press Enter.
